Hey Family! We had such an amazing time on the road and today I just want to share with you some things you can do when you are out of town whether to visit family, attend an event, vacation, reunions, etc. Learning is life and when we do home school as a part of life not just as a part of your day, home school comes to life! Think of it as home school enrichment =D! We had an awesome Motherland Field trip!

Here are some ideas for Home Schooling on the Road:
As you travel ask your older students who are able to calculate how long it will take to get to your destination
Ask questions like:
If we are going 80 miles per hour, how long will it take to go 42 miles or If we are going 70 miles per hour how long will it take to go 2.5 hours. We used numbers that varied on our actual travel which made it relevant and fun to figure out.
Look for African American sites, museums, restaurants, and business in the area you are traveling or in route. Support black business and learn the history of the African Americans in the area from visiting museums.
We were able to visit Dr. Wells African American Museum, eat at Caribbean and African restaurants, and we loved it!
Other ideas are listening to African centered literature on tape or video, math and reading games on the tablet, acting out songs you listen to with silly faces and movements, and drawing what you see as you travel.
You are only limited by your imagination! So enjoy your trip, captivate on learning moments, and create some for yourself that are relevant to you and your culture.
Here are some pics from our Trip!
